Membrane Discs for Flotation / Aeration
by KERAFOL®
The ceramic membrane discs from KERAFOL® can be used to introduce a wide variety of gases into liquids.
Applications range from flotation to fish farming and chemical process engineering.
The discs are pressurized from the inside via channels. The gas permeates through the porous material. At a pressure of around 1.9 bar (H2O/ air), tiny bubbles emerge from the surface. Through an additional rotation this can be further optimized, resulting in extremely fine bubble size distributions (static approx. 50 µm – rotating approx. 20 µm average bubble size). The disks can be inserted horizontally or vertically. They can also be used in systems with high pressure and in the bubble point range.
Ceramic Membrane Discs offer maximum process reliability
- Stability to chemical and thermal stresses
- Regeneration by backwashing or hot steam sterilization
- Direct gas input with extremely fine bubbles
We provide you with the necessary parameters for installing the panes in your systems (sealing, fixing, process parameters).
Applications
from membrane disks
- Flotation: The efficiency of flotation processes is significantly increased by the use of KERAFOL® discs. The finely dispersed gas bubbles lead to accelerated aggregate formation of dispersed particles and thus to more effective separation. The gas bubbles are generated directly in the medium on the membrane surface (no pressure-relaxation flotation).
- Ozonation: The microporous ceramic membranes allow ozone to be introduced into liquids extremely effectively. The extremely finely dispersed gas bubbles remain in the liquid for a very long time, resulting in very low ozone losses.
- Introduction of oxygen: In combination with oxygen, this results in advantageous applications in the areas of fish farming and aquaristics.
- CO2 injection: When gassing with CO2, no more bubbles are visible with the rotating ceramic membrane disks - the CO2 goes directly into solution.
