Electrolyte substrates

by KERAFOL®

KERAFOL® offers its customers in the field of solid oxide cells (SOFC/SOEC) electrolyte substrates and electrolyte-supported cells, in which the electrolyte is the supporting component. The electrolyte spatially separates the anode and the cathode and usually consists of zirconium dioxide. Zirconium dioxide doped with various oxides is able to conduct oxygen ions at high operating temperatures of 750 – 950°C. Good ion conductivity, mechanical strength, long-term stability, gas-tightness and planarity are decisive factors in electrolyte production and the choice of the dopant. In addition to partially stabilized variants with high mechanical strength, fully stabilized materials with high ionic conductivity and compromise solutions that combine both properties are also available.

Dimensions

according to customer requirements

In addition to the standard formats of 50 x 50 mm² and 100 x 100 mm², a large number of round and rectangular geometries of different thicknesses can be produced to customer specifications.

3YSZ and 6ScSZ can be offered down to a minimum of 40 µm due to their high mechanical stability and flexibility.
